Solo and Ensemble Success; MHS Choir Singers Advance to State

At the end of February, Midway High School Choir students competed in both the local and UIL Solo and Ensemble competitions receiving numerous Excellent and Superior ratings in both competitions.

In the local contest, an impressive 90 singers earned a Division 1 ‘Superior” rating on their class 2 or 3 Solo or Ensemble, and 13 singers earned a Division 2 “Excellent” rating on their class 2 or 3 Solo or Ensemble.

In the official UIL contest, a total of 55 students qualified to advance to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest which will be held at the end of May. Out of these state qualifiers, 37 singers earned a Division 1 “Superior” rating on their class 1 solo and 18 students earned Division 1 “Superior” ratings on their class 1 ensemble. Additionally, 6 more soloists earned a Division 2 “Excellent” rating on their class 1 solo.
