Midway Students Earn All-State Orchestra Honors

This year, three Midway High School Orchestra students earned the prestigious honor of being named Texas All-State Musicians, which is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive.

Congratulations to Alanna Schubert (violin), Inoo Jo (cello) and Brandon Raimondo (bass) for earning spots in the 2021-2022 Texas Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra.

Starting each fall in auditions across Texas, the best high school orchestra students are selected through a competitive process that includes District, Region and Area levels. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to a TMEA All-State music group and have the opportunity to perform at the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention.

Out of over 70,000 music students from across the state, just 1,875 qualified at the state level. Only the top 2.6% of musicians who initially audition become All-State musicians, and earning this honor reflects these students’ extraordinary commitment to excellence.

All-State performances will be held as part of the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention, February 9–12, 2022. This convention will be the first in-person convention since 2020.

The Midway High School Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Beau Benson.
