MHS Students Place High in State Journalism Contest

The National Federation of Press Women Texas award committee has just announced
the winners of the 2018 Edith Fox King High School Journalism Contest. Midway students earned 40 honors for writing, design, and photography in this state‐wide contest for high school journalism students. The contest includes student work created from February 2017 to February 2018, so some winners listed below are MHS graduates.

Adia West
Adia West, National Qualifier

One student won first place in her category and will be advancing to the national judging. Adia West wrote a powerful sports profile on student athlete Cal Johnston, titled “A Huge Cal-mmitment.” Adia also won second place for single page layout design and received honorable mention for an article in the sports writing category.

Midway High School produces a 220‐page all color yearbook each year and a monthly student newspaper called The Panther Post. Both have consistently placed in local, state and national contests.
