Midway Middle School Student Wins Grand Prize in HOT Fair Junior Class Photo Contest
James Beavers, a seventh grade student at Midway Middle School, won the grand prize in the junior level of the HOT Fair Western Heritage Photography Contest. His photo was on display during the fair in the Creative Arts and Education Building. Beavers competed against other seventh- and eighth-graders in McLennan County.
“I love photography,” Beavers said. “I’ve been taking pictures since I was very little. My favorite types of photos to take are of flowers and old objects.”
Beavers also entered the creative arts photography contest where he won third place in the abstract category, third place in the flowers category, and fourth place in the portraits category.
Beavers uses his photography skills for other contests such as PTA Reflections, and he is a volunteer photographer for Shriners Hospitals for Children at fund-raising events in Waco. He is also involved in MMS football, band, and robotics. He plays tuba, violin, and saxophone. Beavers is the son of Jeremy and Jamie Beavers of Lorena.
