For the seventh year in a row, Midway ISD is being recognized for meeting the highest standards set by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in financial integrity and transparency. In November, TEA announced financial accountability ratings for school districts across the state, awarding Midway ISD an ‘A’ rating indicating Superior Achievement in financial management practices under the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
The 2022 FIRST ratings are based on financial data from the 2021-2022 school year and calculated using a set of 20 financial indicators such as administrative cost expenditures and the accuracy of a district’s financial information submitted to TEA. Midway ISD scored positively on every indicator to earn 98 out of a possible 100 points, demonstrating high quality in financial management and reporting practices.
According to TEA, FIRST was created in 2001 by the 77th Texas Legislature and is designed to encourage public schools to achieve quality performance in the management of financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
Earning a Superior Achievement rating for the past seven years in a row points to Midway ISD’s continued financial excellence and commitment to providing the best education possible to its students.
