The original works of art from 17 Midway ISD students from elementary to high school are being recognized at the state level of the Texas Parent-Teacher Association Reflections Contest.
Eligible students submitted original works of art in response to the 2020-2021 Reflections Contest theme “I matter because…” in any or all of the six arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.
Student winners from the local level have the opportunity to move up through their district, region, council and state PTA programs to the national level.
This year, Texas PTA received nearly 850 entries for state-level judging and is awarding over 500 of those entries.
Students receiving a state award of Honorable Mention, Award of Merit, Award of Excellence or Overall Award of Excellence are invited to be recognized at Texas PTA’s statewide awards ceremony in Round Rock on Saturday, May 15.

For over 50 years, the Reflections program has provided a creative outlet for more than 200,000 students annually through the efforts of local PTAs.
Reflections is an opportunity to recognize and provide access to the arts, with the goal of boosting student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
According to the Texas PTA website, the Reflections program focuses on recognition rather than competition, which allows for students of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their voice to tell their unique story.
Original works of art from all awarded entries can be viewed here in the 2020-2021 online Reflections gallery.
Students, thank you for sharing your creativity!
