With a score of 93 in Class 6A Spelling and Vocabulary and a tie-breaker score of 19, junior Anna Turner won 3rd place at the
State UIL Academic Meet.
Anna has been competing in spelling and vocabulary for most of her school life. She and her twin brother even made it to the Scripps Spelling Bee a few years ago.
The UIL Spelling and Vocabulary Contest is based on a 1500 word vocabulary list and consists of a three-part test: multiple-choice vocabulary and proofreading, hand-written spelling test, as well as a tiebreaker section of 20 pronounced words.
