Excellence

Apple Distinguished Schools

In 2013, Midway embarked on an innovative one-to-one initiative that provided digital devices to every student. This helped level the playing field for access to computers, and also provided endless classroom resources for teachers. As the programming and curriculum developed, Midway ISD has become a leader in best practices for use of technology in the classroom.

Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence that use Apple products to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. They showcase innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching, and the school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.

Two Midway ISD campuses have been recognized by Apple as a distinguished schools for continuous innovation in learning, teaching, and the school environment. Congratulations to Castleman Creek Elementary and Spring Valley Elementary.

  • Representing Castleman Creek’s Apple Team are Principal Mandy Johnson, Assistant Principal Clint Glaesmann, and Instructional Technologist Jessica Fasani.
  • Representing Spring Valley are Principal Jay Fischer, Assistant Principal Kappy Edwards, and Instructional Technologist Kathleen Minshew.

Special thanks to Midway Director of Instructional Technology Susan Fletcher and the Apple representatives who have helped coordinate the training and implementation leading to this recognition.
