Park Hill’s First Principal

October 18, 2021 – Mandy Johnson, Ed.D., has been named the first principal of Midway ISD’s newest elementary campus, Park Hill Elementary. Dr. Johnson served on the planning committee for the innovative new campus and will be instrumental in the final months of planning for staffing and opening details.

About Dr. Johnson

As an educator with more than 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Mandy Johnson has served 11 of those years in Midway ISD. Her journey with MISD began as a classroom teacher at Woodway Elementary. She also served as Woodway’s Instructional Specialist and Assistant Principal before being named the principal of Castleman Creek Elementary in 2016. As principal of CCE, Dr. Johnson created a culture of innovation in learning. The school was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School in 2018 and 2021. In 2020, Castleman Creek Elementary was selected by Baylor University’s School of Education to be one of its professional development schools. This year, Castleman Creek became a PreK – 5th-grade campus and is currently the largest elementary school in the district, serving more than 800 students. 

Dr. Johnson graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1994. She received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where she also received a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership in 2017. 

Dr. Johnson is married to Russ Johnson, and they have a unique tie to Castleman Creek. Russ proposed to Mandy during her first year as principal at Castleman Creek Elementary, with all 600 students and staff by her side. Together they have a blended family with six daughters and one grandson. When she is not at school, Dr. Johnson loves to travel and spend time with her family.
