Commitment

Parent Advisory Council

The Parent Advisory Council for MISD Special Education was first formed during the 2018-2019 school year. The purpose of the council is to strengthen the partnership between the special education department and the families of the students it serves.  Parent members are chosen at the beginning of each school year following an open call for applications and recommendations from MISD staff. Council meetings occur once every six weeks. Parent members provide feedback to the special education director regarding current and planned programs, help disseminate information to other parents at their home campuses, and help develop district-wide meetings and events for special needs families. Please contact Jennifer Salisbury, current chairperson, by email at [email protected] or phone at 254-722-0707 with questions.
