XC Panthers Successful in Belton Meet

Midway’s varsity boys captured second place out of 23 teams in the 5A-6A division at the Belton Invitational cross country meet Friday morning.  Midway had five finish in the top 30, led by Cal Johnston’s 8th place finish.  Ryan Day picked up the 14th place medal, followed by Peter Ferretter (16th),  Ross Tullis (27th), and​ Gage Smith (29th).  Joshua Woodward, Joel Petersen, Thomas Meehan, Cody King, and Clark Buchanan all competed well for the varsity boys.

 

The varsity girls were 7th of 19 teams, with Audrey Johnston, Miriam McCormick, Emmalie Albers, and Mia Miller leading the way.  Merry Kaminski, Gracie Hutson, Charlotte Kaminski, Dani Khoury, and Alex Waitley all ran well for the varsity girls.

 

The JV boys were 3rd out of 25 teams, led by Chris Taylor’s 6th place finish.  Others placing high the for the young Panthers were Andrew Majors, Jacob Meek, Isaiah Watley, Cameron Russell, Dylan Duncan, and Hunter Martinez.

 

The JV girls were 7th of 24 teams, led by the silver medal winning performance by Keziah Bachert.  Bachert was second overall out of over 375 runners in the JV division.  Other top runners for the young Pantherettes were Lindsay Toups, Lulu Rivera, Hannah Oubre, Emily Lapes,  Leanna Herrera, and Amanda Lapes.

 

Midway cross country is off next week, but they will be back in action at their home meet on Thursday, September 10, at the HOT Soccer complex.
