South Bosque Students Participate in Read Across America Event

On Friday, March 6, South Bosque Elementary second graders participated in a Read Across America event, hosted by the Baylor Bookstore. In honor of Dr. Suess’ birthday, beloved storybook characters including The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 welcomed students to Baylor campus.

A South Bosque second grader leapt to high five The Cat in the Hat at Baylor’s Read Across America event on Friday, March 6.
Students listened to KBTX weatherman Rusty Garrett read Dr. Suess’ “The Cat in the Hat.”
Puppeteer and storyteller Sandy Shrout entertained students with a lively fairytale.
Shrout lead the students in singing “The Queen’s song,” each time the puppet reappeared onstage.
Waco librarian Vivian Rutherford, with the help of The Cat in the Hat, taught the South Bosque students a new dance.
Students donned as many stripes as possible to honor Dr. Suess and to show their excitement for the Read Across America event.
