Midway Middle School Assistant Principal Receives Regional Award

Vasek_BrianBrian Vasek, Assistant Principal of Midway Middle School in Midway ISD, has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as the Region 12’s Outstanding Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year. TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the twenty regional Education Service Centers in the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. As a Region 12 winner, Mr. Vasek is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year.

Brian Vasek, an 11th-year administrator has been a member of the leadership team at Midway Middle School since 2004. He attended Texas A & M University where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree. He also attended Tarleton State University and was awarded a master’s of education degree in Educational Administration. Mr. Vasek sees himself as being a risk taker, a visionary, a leader of learners, and an advocate for all students. He was also credited with The Region 12’s selection as TASSP’s Outstanding Middle School Assistant Principal of the year in 2011.

Mr. Vasek states, “I truly believe that working with today’s youth is my calling in life. I love coming to work every day to enjoy my professional “Family” here at Midway Middle School. Our teachers and staff are some of the best in the state! Our students and their parents, without a doubt, are truly gifted and exceptional in every way. I am extremely fortunate to work in such a family oriented, technologically innovative, and highly dedicated school district. Every day is truly a great day to be a Panther!”

Each of the region winners will be recognized during the Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards Dinner on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the Hilton Austin Downtown Hotel. Each will be presented with an award and recognized in a commemorative booklet entitled Texas Principals, Texas Heroes. The TASSP Summer Workshop will be held June 10-12, 2015, at the Austin Convention Center.
