Cross Country Teams Crush Opponents

The Midway Cross Country teams had an excellent meet at Crawford this past Saturday. The junior varsity boys and girls won the team championships. Only a few varsity athletes competed, and out of those that ran, four of the eight medalled: Audrey Johnston, Bailey Johnston, Emmalie Albers, and Gage Smith.

Freshmen Cal Johnston and Madison Rohre won gold medals in the JV divisions. Johnston won in his first race of the season, and Rohre won her race Saturday morning after leading the freshmen volleyball team to a victory the night prior to the cross country meet. Also medalling for Midway’s JV Pantherettes were Dani Khoury, Mia Miller, Amanda Lapes, and Charlotte Kaminski. Medalling for the JV Panthers were Andrew Majors, Cody King, Xavier Berry, John Alexander, and Ellis McCormick.

In Midlothian a week ago, the varsity girls were third of 18 teams, led by Bailey Johnston’s and Audrey Johnston’s medal winning performances. The JV girls won the meet, despite running the first half of the race in a downpour. Emmalie Albers, Madison Rohre, Dani Khoury, and Ashley Posey all finished in the top 10. Jacob Wright had a great race for the Panthers, placing 8th of 175 runners.

This Saturday, Sept. 27, the varsities and some of the JV will be competing in the Islander Splash meet at West Guth Park in Corpus Christi. Come out and support your Midway ISD Panthers!
