Midway third grader competes in world golf championship

photo 1Spring Valley Elementary third grader Corbin Null started playing in the U.S. Kids Golf Spring Tour in Austin, Texas beginning in January. There were a total of eight tournaments. For each tournament, he received points based on where he placed in his age group. He placed first in six of the eight tournaments and second in the other two. He therefore earned the most points in his age group and was named the Player of the Year for the spring tour. He was then invited to play in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships in Pinehurst, NC. He finished tied for 60th out of 142 eight year olds.

“It was a wonderful experience for Corbin to get to play against the best golfers in the world,” said mother Dana Null. “Corbin has only been playing golf competitively for seven months. Several of these kids have been playing since they were four years old!”
Corbin is currently playing in the summer tour in Austin and is in second place with points. He will continue playing in the fall tour as well. He hopes to earn another invitation to the World Championship next summer.
