MMS student wins regional art contest

Eighth grader Allison Overpeck is in her first year of elective art, but she is already winning cash awards for her work. Allison designed a logo for Library Jubilee, a program of Education Service Center Region 12, and she won $100. All students from ESC 12’s 77 districts were eligible for the contest to design a logo for the theme “TRAVEL: Technology, Reading, And Vividly Engaging Libraries.”

Sherry McElhannon, library media specialist for Region 12, said, “Allison’s design is bright and really captures the idea of travel. That’s what reading can do—take you on trips anywhere.”
